The National Republican Senatorial Committee recently claimed in an ad that Michiganâs Democratic U.S. Senate candidate, Elissa Slotkin, gave taxpayer money to immigrants who were in the U.S. illegally.
The statement contains an element of truth in that Robinson was on the campaign trail, and not physically present at the State Board of Education meeting, but it ignores critical facts that would give a different impression.
The area is near the San Diego-Mexico border and migrants, including many asylum seekers, often are served by humanitarian groups while they await processing by immigration officials, a local newspaper reported.
